OBNW*
Investing in technologies that scale the services our world needs.
Stage: Early. Working with founders to originate, polish and scale ideas.
Focus: Leverage technology to scale expert and professional services.
Thesis
As per the old adage, the future is already here, just not evenly distributed. Better distributing this future, its technologies and methods will improve the quality of all our lives. And that’s what we’re about.
…compared to VC
Optimistic like a VC, starting with not much more than a capable team and an idea.
But hyper-scaling, inverted CAC:LTVs or experimental business models are not our area of expertise.
…compared to PE
Rational, focus on proven business models and asset classes with an eye towards capital structures, as is best practice in PE.
But, unlike PEs, we are willing to be day 1 investors, start small and take operating and technology risk.
*O Brave New World
Even though change can be disorienting, we are unconvinced by the pessimists that constantly foretell global doom, always finding new advances to fear.
Instead, we are hopeful for our brave new world and technology’s role in it.
If you are too, lets work together.
“Oh, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in 't!”
